The Compass Programme has been designed to champion best practice, demonstrate simple farm management strategies that can improve profitability and highlight the opportunity new feeds and feeding practices present.
We'd like to share The Compass Programme with you. Our open days are designed to give you the opportunity to experience system and management practices that could be adopted on your farm to make you more money.
Gary has been a KW Compass Farm for 2 years during which time we have worked together to implement feeding and management changes that have culminated in major improvements in the performance of his predominantly dairy bull beef rearing and finishing unit.
The day will include a tour around Gary's novel open air Corral based system that rears and finishes 700 plus black and white bulls, where a range of speakers will discuss:
- the evolution of the system
- key feeding and management changes
- the new cattle handling and weighing system
- the unusual super tanker for liquids
- producing bulls for new markets.
Speakers will include, Gary, Adam Buitelaar of Buitelaar International Trading, Dr Michael Marsden of KW, and Ms Lianne Young of Fenwold Vets.
The morning will end with a hog roast and an opportunity to discuss the visit with our speakers on a one to one basis.
