Acid Buf

A rumer buffer and conditioner for increasing mik yield through improved rumen fermentation.

Why Feed Acid Buf?

To support high milk yields, dairy cows consume large amounts of concentrate feed, often together with acidic silage. Under these conditions, rumen fermentation can be sub-optimal, resulting in acidosis and lower than expected milk yields. The issue is the same for beef cattle. Acid Buf helps to buffer changes in rumen pH caused by highly acidic forage and/or feeding a large proportion of readily fermentable concentrate. This results in better milk yield/growth rate.

What are you trying to achieve?

Effective rumen buffering

High surface area of the algal material (due to the honeycomb structure) gives sustained buffering over a long period of time, improving milk yield and live weight gain when feeding acidic rations.

Low inclusion rate

'Frees-up' more space in the ration for energy and protein.

Non-hygroscopic

Acid Buf is easy to handle and free flowing with no lumping.

Source of bio-avaliable minerals

Good source of calcium and magnesium, released as Acid Buf breaks down.

Additional information

Method of production

Acid Buf is manufactured from calcareous marine algae harvested off the coasts of Ireland and Iceland. In the process of growth, the live plant develops a white calcareous skeleton. This is harvested, washed, dried. ground and bagged. acid Buf contains three calcium structures, helping to provide a sustained buffering effect.

Acid Buf is manufactured by Celtic Sea Minerals.

Quality Assurance

Acid Buf complies with feed raw material regulations and can be used in the diets of dairy cows, beef cattle, sows and piglets. Acid Buf is produced to FEMAS-assured standards and is approved by Organic Farmers and Growers (OF&G) for use on organic farms.
