Need

Feature

Benefit

Drive intake

A highly palatable and aromatic moist feed.

Stimulates overall feed intake, resulting in increased milk and meat production.

Reduce feed costs

Good levels of protein, energy and digestible fibre.

A competitively priced alternative to straights and manufactured concentrates.

Improve rumen efficiency

Distillery products contain high levels of yeast fragments.

Stimulates rumen microbial activity leading to increased digestion especially of fibrous feeds.

Traceability

Produced at Trafford Park in Manchester.

A short and local supply chain creates peace of mind and stringent quality assurance.

Flexibility in feeding

Easily stored and incorporated into most feeding systems.

Simplifies feeding.

The predicted responses (benefits) assume that the specified nutrient, physical or structural dietary components are limiting livestock performance in the current ration.

Availability, handling and storage

C☆Traffordgold® should always be stored on a clean and dry concrete base. Even if feeding fresh, it is advisable to exclude air from the load by consolidating and sheeting. For long-term storage, C☆Traffordgold® should be clamped, the air excluded, consolidated and covered with a secured sheet in the same manner as grass silage.

C☆Traffordgold® can be mixed with other feeds, such as processed bread, to produce a moist blend. Please note: it is not advisable to exceed a dry matter content of 65%.

Storage Tips

Store on a clean dry concrete base.

  • C☆Traffordgold® will be warm or hot on arrival. It is best left for 24 hours before sheeting to let heat escape.
  • Compress the surface by means of a tractor mounted bucket to exclude as much air as possible.
  • Dressing the surface with salt prior to sheeting will enhance the products preservation. It is recommeded to use 3kg of salt per cubic meter.
  • Cover with high quality plastic sheet and evenly weight with Secure Covers and gravel bags or straw bales.
  • Ensure the product is completely covered with the sheet, even at the edges, to create an air tight seal.
  • When feeding starts, its best to expose 3 or 4 days worth of feed at a time. Placing a line of weights on the sheet, as far back as you intend to expose the feed, reduces the risk of air entering the clamp and aids keeping quality.
  • Ensure the open face of the silo is clean and tidy.
  • Keep the area exposed to the atmosphere minimal.

It is recommended to cover the feed face during heavy rain.

Additional information

Method of production

Wheat is coarsely milled and the flour mixed with water to separate vital wheat gluten from the starch. These grades of starch are then refined to produce a purer grade of starch. Some of these go onto be further refined into glucose and some are sent to the onsite distillery. The distillery produces food grade alcohol and a highly palatable liquid containing rumen friendly inert yeasts. This is combined with wheat components that are not further processed to produce C☆Traffordgold®.

Quality Assurance

C☆Traffordgold® is a FEMAS assured, fully traceable, product and marketed by KW Alternative Feeds, a UFAS-accredited merchant.
